Technological innovation, energy saving and emission reduction, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement

At present, the treatment methods for VOCs are mainly divided into two types: recycling and elimination. The recycling technology mainly realizes the absorption of volatile organic compounds through physical principles, such as increasing the solubility of organic solvents in the absorbing material by changing temperature and pressure. Or the paint waste gas is enriched by selective adsorbents, permeable membranes and other methods, and then separated and treated. The main recycling and treatment technologies at present include adsorption technology, condensation technology, membrane separation technology, etc. The elimination technology mainly converts organic waste gas into other non-polluting substances by chemical means, and decomposes organic waste gas into non-toxic and non-polluting carbon dioxide, water and other substances by light energy, heat energy, catalysts and microorganisms. The main elimination technologies at present include direct combustion, catalytic combustion, photocatalytic oxidation, low-temperature plasma and other technologies.

Only by choosing the appropriate VOCs treatment technology can the best treatment effect be achieved. Before choosing the appropriate VOCs treatment technology, it is necessary to analyze the actual concentration of VOCs. If the actual concentration of VOCs is greater than 10000 mg/m³, it means that the gas is worth recovering and belongs to the category of gas with recovery value. If it is between 2000 and 10000 mg/m³, then the appropriate combustion technology can be considered for treatment. When the VOCs concentration during the painting process is lower than 1000 mg/m³, then a combined process can be considered for treatment, such as VOCs concentrator + CO/RTO.

01. Volatile organic compound waste gas and its main components:

  • 1. Impact of volatile organic compound emissions

Automobile paint waste contains a large amount of volatile organic compounds. If these volatile organic compounds are not controlled, the content of toxic substances in the air will be greatly increased, causing serious environmental pollution. The harm of VOCs to the human body and the environment is mainly reflected in two aspects. On the one hand, some substances in VOCs will cause direct harm to the human body and the environment. For example, high levels of VOCs in the room will damage people's sensory nerves such as vision and hearing; on the other hand, VOCs will also cause more serious indirect harm to the atmospheric environment, namely photochemical pollution. The mechanism of photochemical pollution is that most VOCs have a short half-life of degradation (generally a few hours to 3 months). When catalyzed by ultraviolet rays, they decompose or react chemically and react with nitrogen oxides to produce ozone. There are three conditions for the generation of photochemical pollution, namely volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides and sunlight. When the ozone concentration in the air reaches a certain value, people will feel uncomfortable.

  • 2. Main sources of volatile organic compound waste gas

In addition to the large amount of VOCs produced during the painting process, automobile exhaust, building materials, industrial waste gas, etc. will also produce a large amount of VOCs. These volatile organic compounds enter the atmosphere with the air. If people live in an environment containing a large amount of VOCs for a long time, it will seriously affect human health.

  • 3. Main components of VOCs waste gas from automobile painting

The VOCs waste gas generated during the automobile painting process mainly includes toxic substances such as toluene, xylene, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Some of the waste gas is mainly generated during the paint preparation, painting, and drying steps of the automobile painting process. Most of the organic waste gas is generated during the drying process, and a small part is volatilized during the painting and paint preparation process.

02. VOCs technology treatment for paint room waste gas

Pretreatment + zeolite concentration rotor adsorption + catalytic combustion

The pretreatment of paint spraying waste gas is generally to treat the paint mist with the water curtain or water cyclone provided in the paint spraying room. The air supply room sends outdoor air into the paint spraying room through the air conditioning air supply unit, and the paint spraying room forms a negative pressure. The air is evenly sent into the room after being regulated and filtered by the top of the room body. From top to bottom, the workpiece is placed in the uniform flow layer with a certain wind speed, so that the splashing waste paint mist is pressed into the water cyclone of the water cyclone spraying room. The water is atomized under the impact of the high-speed airflow and fully mixed with the paint mist, so that the paint mist is attracted to the water and taken away. After the air-water separation of the water-containing air, the air containing organic waste gas is sent into the atmosphere through the exhaust system, and the purification rate of the paint mist is not less than 98%; and the water containing paint mist flows into the circulating water pool, and after flocculation into slag (flocculants and suspending agents are regularly added to the water), it is sent to the paint spraying room by the circulating pump for recycling.

After the paint mist is removed from the paint waste gas, it is absorbed by the zeolite concentrator wheel for comprehensive treatment. The adsorption principle of the zeolite concentrator wheel is that there are many pores inside the zeolite molecules. The organic waste gas will be adsorbed in the pores after passing through the zeolite molecules. The VOCs inside the paint room will be gathered and adsorbed on the wheel. After a period of adsorption and concentration, these high-concentration waste gases are treated by CO/RTO equipment, and the treatment efficiency is as high as 99% or more.Automobile paint waste contains a large amount of pollutants and toxic substances. If not handled properly, it will have a great impact on the surrounding environment where people live. As one of the main sources of air pollutants, VOCs in automobile paint waste gas, related companies need to pay attention to the treatment of waste gas in the automobile production process. Environmental issues have always been a focus of people's attention. Strengthening the treatment of VOCs in automobile paint waste gas can reduce air pollution and protect the environment on which we depend for survival.
