Fenton Equipment

Fenton equipment, also known as Fenton oxidation equipment, is a device that uses a mixed solution of H₂O₂ and Fe²⁺ as a strong oxidant to efficiently oxidize high-concentration, difficult-to-degrade organic pollutants in wastewater. It is mainly used for pretreatment to improve water quality, enhance the biodegradability of wastewater, and create favorable conditions for subsequent biological treatment.

Working Principle

Fenton's reagent is composed of ferrous salt and peroxide. Under acidic conditions, H₂O₂ decomposes under the catalytic action of Fe²⁺ to produce highly active OH. These OH with strong oxidizing ability can quickly oxidize and decompose organic pollutants in wastewater into harmless substances such as H₂O and CO₂. At the same time, Fe²⁺ is oxidized to Fe³⁺, which further generates Fe(OH)3 colloid with net-filling, sweeping, flocculation and precipitation effects, which helps to remove suspended particles and macromolecular organic matter in wastewater.

Product Features

OH has an oxidation potential of up to 2.80V, which can oxidize most organic matter in water. It is particularly suitable for organic wastewater that is difficult to biodegrade or difficult to treat with general chemical oxidation.

Strong oxidizing property
Organic matter is oxidized quickly and the required residence time is short, generally 0.5-2h, which is much lower than the time required for biological treatment.

The equipment has a compact structure, high volumetric load rate, small footprint, high degree of self-control, and ensures the stability of effluent.

Application

Landfill leachate

The organic matter concentration in landfill leachate is high and its biodegradability is poor. The Fenton process is used for deep treatment after biochemical treatment to remove residual COD and toxic substances.

Coking wastewater

Coking wastewater contains nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that are difficult to biodegrade. The Fenton equipment can effectively degrade such organic matter without secondary pollution.

Wastewater containing phenolic substances

Phenolic substances are highly toxic and difficult to degrade. The Fenton process can destroy the benzene ring structure through ·OH, and finally generate H₂O and CO₂.

Printing and dyeing wastewater

Printing and dyeing wastewater has high chromaticity, high COD concentration and high salt content. The Fenton reagent reduces the chromaticity by destroying the dye chromophore, and at the same time degrades large molecular organic matter into small molecular substances that are easy to biodegrade.

Optimal HRT of Fenton equipment

In the pretreatment stage, the optimal HRT of the oxidation reaction pool is 2.0h-8.0h; in the deep treatment stage, the optimal HRT is 2.0h-6.0h.
Optimal pH value of the reaction

The optimal pH value of the Fenton reaction is usually between 2-4. Too high a pH value will limit the precipitation of OH, produce a large amount of Fe(OH)3 precipitate, and lead to a decrease in catalytic ability; while too high a concentration of H⁺ will hinder the reduction of Fe³⁺ to Fe²⁺, affecting the catalytic reaction.
Optimal reagent addition ratio

The addition ratio of FeSO4 and H₂O₂ is crucial to the reaction effect. Usually, the mass ratio of H₂O₂ to FeSO4 is 1:2, but the specific ratio should be determined by experiment according to the actual pollutant concentration of the wastewater.
