VOCs pose multiple hazards to human health, primarily entering the bloodstream through the respiratory tract, where they accumulate in the body and produce toxic effects. Short-term exposure to high-concentration VOCs can cause acute symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, nausea, throat irritation, and difficulty breathing; long-term exposure can lead to chronic respiratory diseases, central nervous system disorders, and endocrine disorders.                                                                                                                      VOCs such as benzene, formaldehyde, and vinyl chloride are classified as carcinogens by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Prolonged inhalation increases the risk of malignant tumors such as leukemia and liver cancer, and damages vital organs like the liver, kidneys, nervous system, and hematopoietic system. The health impacts of VOCs are particularly significant for sensitive groups including children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, potentially leading to fetal malformations, developmental delays in children, and other problems.

III. Impact on the Atmospheric Environment

Certain VOCs, such as ethylene, can affect plant photosynthesis and growth, leading to reduced crop yields and even affecting the stability of forest ecosystems. Furthermore, VOCs can enter water bodies through precipitation, affecting water quality and even harming the health of aquatic life.
